Standard Processing Steps for Boiled Egg Maker Mold Bases
  1. Cutting
    Use a sawing machine to cut standard steel plates into rough plate blanks of the required dimensions.

  2. Rough Milling (Face and Side Milling)
    On a gantry milling machine, the six surfaces of the plate (primarily the main reference surfaces) are milled flat, and the basic outer shape is machined, removing most of the machining allowance.

  3. Drilling Lifting Eye/Hole and Process Holes
    Drill holes (e.g., for lifting eyes) and reference pin holes for hoisting, handling, and positioning in subsequent processes on a drilling machine.

  4. Rough Cavity Milling (Roughing)
    Use a rough cavity milling machine or gantry mill to preliminarily machine the mold cavity, guide pin/bushing holes, return pin holes, and other cavity structures on the mold plate, leaving a uniform finishing allowance for all areas to be machined.

  5. Heat Treatment (Tempering/Quenching and Tempering)

The purpose is to relieve internal stresses generated during rough machining, homogenize and improve the comprehensive mechanical properties (strength, toughness) of the steel, and provide a stable material condition for subsequent finishing.

    The plate undergoes slight deformation after heat treatment. This process is performed on a precision grinder to grind the two most critical reference surfaces (typically A and B surfaces) to achieve extremely high flatness, surface finish, and precise thickness, providing a single, accurate positioning datum for all subsequent precision machining.

  7. Precision Milling
    Using the precisely ground reference surfaces for positioning, perform finishing operations on surfaces like the four sides of the mold cavity, parting surface, shut-off surfaces, slider slots, etc., on a gantry mill or precision milling machine, ensuring perpendicularity, parallelism, and dimensional accuracy meet drawing requirements.

  8. CNC Machining
    For complex shapes that cannot be completed by precision milling (such as irregular curved surfaces, deep cavities, 3D runner systems, lifter pin holes, etc.), computer programming is used to perform precision milling on a machining center (CNC).

  9. Drilling and Tapping
    Machine all screw holes, ejector pin holes, water line holes, guide pin holes, etc., and perform tapping. This process is typically completed on a high-precision radial drill or CNC drilling machine.

  10. Bench Work/Assembly
    Perform manual finishing, including chamfering and deburring all edges and corners, stamping part numbers in designated locations, assembling standard components like guide bushings and pins, and conducting flow tests on water lines.

  11. Final Inspection
    Use inspection tools such as coordinate measuring machines (CMM), height gauges, and calipers to conduct a full inspection of all critical dimensions, hole position accuracy, and flatness, ensuring compliance with the design drawings.

  12. Assembly and Packing
    Clean all components, such as the front and rear mold bases, guide pins, return pins, and ejector plates, then assemble them. Apply anti-rust oil, perform final tightening, and pack them for shipment.
