Products Description
Standard processing steps for lunch box mold base
- Saw Cutting (Blanking)Use a sawing machine to cut standard-sized steel plates into rough blanks of the required dimensions.
- Rough Milling (Face Milling and Side Milling)On a gantry milling machine, mill and flatten the six faces (primarily the major reference surfaces) of the blank, shape the basic external dimensions, and remove most of the machining allowance.
- Drilling Lifting Holes/Process HolesDrill screw holes (lifting holes) and reference pin holes on a drilling machine for handling, positioning, and subsequent processes.
- Rough Cavity Milling (Rough Pocketing)Use a rough pocketing machine or gantry milling machine to preliminarily machine the mold cavity, guide pin/bushing holes, ejector return pin holes, and other structural features, leaving uniform finishing allowances for all areas.
- Heat Treatment (Quenching and Tempering)[Critical Step] Subject the rough-machined plate to quenching and high-temperature tempering. This eliminates internal stresses from rough machining, homogenizes and enhances the steel’s overall mechanical properties (strength, toughness), and provides a stable material condition for subsequent finishing.
- Precision Grinding of Reference SurfacesHeat treatment causes slight deformation. In this step, grind the two most critical reference surfaces (usually A and B faces) on a precision surface grinder to achieve extremely high flatness, surface finish, and accurate thickness, establishing a single, precise positioning datum for all subsequent finishing operations.
- Precision MillingUsing the ground reference surfaces for positioning, perform precision milling on a gantry or high-precision milling machine for the mold cavity’s four sides, parting surfaces, shut-off areas, slider grooves, etc., ensuring perpendicularity, parallelism, and dimensional accuracy meet drawing requirements.
- CNC MachiningFor complex shapes beyond precision milling (e.g., contoured surfaces, deep pockets, 3D runners, angled lifter holes), use computer programming to perform precision milling on a machining center (CNC).
- Drilling and TappingDrill all screw holes, ejector pin holes, waterline holes, guide pin holes, etc., and tap them. This is typically done on a high-precision radial drill or CNC drilling machine.
- Bench WorkPerform manual finishing: chamfering and deburring all edges, stamping part numbers in specified locations, assembling standard parts like guide bushings and dowel pins, and conducting flow tests on waterlines.
- Final InspectionUse measuring tools such as CMMs, height gauges, and calipers to conduct a full inspection of all critical dimensions, hole position accuracy, and flatness, ensuring compliance with the design drawings.
- Assembly and PackingClean all components (including front and rear mold cavities, guide pins, ejector return pins, ejector plates, etc.), apply anti-rust oil, assemble and tighten them, and pack for shipment.
